COOPERATIVE INTERNSHIPS

If you are a student at Hamilton College, Western New England University, University of Mary Washington, or Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts who is interested in applied psychology and education, spend the fall or spring semester at our Southborough campus!

  • Juniors and seniors get practical experience in special education and applied psychology while receiving full academic credit from their college or university
  • The program includes both didactic course work and supervised practicum experiences. Trainees learn theoretical and practical applications of behavior analysis techniques, how to develop an educational curriculum, and behavior management programming for students who have a range of needs.
  • Trainees attend graduate-level courses offered on-site by Western New England University professors. In addition, they also spend about 25 hours each week gaining hands-on experience as a student teacher.

We encourage students from these colleges to consult with the chair of their Department of Psychology and apply through the college. For general inquiries about this co-op program please email us.

UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE INTERNSHIPS

Each year, many undergraduate and graduate students have rewarding internship experiences at The New England Center for Children. Students are typically in their junior or senior year studying psychology, education, communication disorders, or other human services programs. Often, internships lead to full-time employment at NECC upon graduation.

An internship provides:

  • Relevant experience in the application of behavior analysis principles with students who have special needs
  • The opportunity to train and work alongside top professionals in an occupational environment
  • Supervision from master’s or doctoral level clinicians
  • Academic credit through your college or university
  • Flexible scheduling based on your needs, including summer internship availability
  • A program design that meets the academic requirements of your college
