Overall Responsibility
The vocational counselor position is designed for applicants with Canadian citizenship and is for applicants who have had some formal experience working with individuals with special needs. This position works with the 14 and over population and involves the design and implementation of vocational programs and job readiness training. The counselor utilizes applied behavior analysis techniques to implement these programs in an unobtrusive manner in all settings. They serve as an advocate for workers and ensure employer’s satisfaction on an on-going basis. Counselors participate in skill development instruction including daily living skills, communication, and functional academics. They also may have some case management duties and are expected to work in the school, residence and community work sites during day, evening and weekend hours.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be seeking a full-time position with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
- Bachelor’s degree, Canadian citizenship
- Physically, mentally and emotionally prepared for a challenging career experience. Licensed and unlicensed positions available.
- Willing to relocate to the state of Massachusetts.
- Have own transportation and be able to obtain a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
- Positive academic and employment references.
- Bright, energetic individuals with a strong desire to work with children or young adults and with experience in, or an interest in being trained in, the principles of ABA.
Additional Responsibilities include:
- Completion of all role responsibilities, which may include case management, depending on the position.
- Thorough knowledge and competent implementation of all student educational programs and behavior management guidelines.
- Diligent implementation of all medical, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Successful completion of the NECC training program.
