The Primary Care Nurse Practitioner is responsible for overseeing the primary health care needs of the residential students.
Responsibilities
Primary Care Duties (Residential Students)
- Performs assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses/injuries in residential students on a daily basis
- Provides clinical guidance to primary care nurses as it relates to primary care needs.
- Coordinates and participates in on-site monthly Primary Care Clinic with the school’s pediatrician
- Refers to and consults with PCP and specialists as necessary
- Participation in telephone triage beeper coverage (18weeks) with other Nurse Practitioners in the department on a rotating basis
Requirements
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (Family or Pediatric) with prescriptive privileges required
- Experience in pediatric primary care with special needs population is preferred.
- Previous experience with Electronic Health Record (HER) is preferred
