The ABA Teacher (Intensive Instruction Day Program) works in NECC’s day program and provides instruction within assigned cohort.  Teachers work in the school setting and assist with educational program design, IEP development, and regular communication with parents and guardians.  Teachers implement the scientific principles of applied behavior analysis during the school day across environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching as part of a team of professionals in a year-round day program to maximize students’ skills and independence
  • Implementing educational programs and behavior management guidelines in 1:1 and small group formats
  • Utilizing behavior analytic teaching procedures across classroom and community settings
  • Instructing students in general curriculum areas, communication, social skills, activities of daily living (ie personal hygiene), vocational, leisure and recreation, adaptive physical education and swimming, community, and self-preservation.
  • Diligent implementation of all medical, safety, and emergency procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; will consider individuals pursuing associate or bachelor’s degree
  • Interest in working with children or young adults diagnosed with autism and related special needs
  • Experience using Applied Behavior Analysis, preferred
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to handle physical and mental aspects of the position
