Staff Spotlight: Bismark “Bob” Ofei-badu, Jr.

Bismark “Bob” Ofei-badu, Jr., a Rehabilitation Counselor and Core Shift Manager on Higley Road, has worked at The New England Center for Children (NECC) for three years. He was nominated for Staff Spotlight by a colleague, “because he is very sociable, free-spirited, and works well with the students!”

How long have you worked for NECC?

I am currently in my third contract at NECC.

Why NECC?

I was drawn to NECC because of the high-caliber clinical training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which builds a strong foundation for a career in autism; the opportunity to engage in meaningful, evidence-based work within the field; and the chance to contribute to research and operate within a well-respected organization that provides excellent career advancement and networking.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is supporting our boys as they learn and grow while also helping solve problems in real time.

Have you taken advantage of any of the grad programs or teacher training at NECC? If so, how has it affected your teaching style?

I have not yet taken advantage of the graduate programs, but I look forward to enrolling in one soon.

What is something about you that your colleagues might be surprised to learn?

I am a very good soccer player and a great cook.

Who is someone you look up to?

I look up to my dad! He models values that I admire.

What is your life philosophy or motto you like to live by?

I might be a slow walker, but I never walk back.
