Jumping Together

The NECC community recently came together for an afternoon of movement, laughter, and connection during a Learn to Jump Rope Workshop, hosted by the Wellness Employee Resource Group (ERG) and the Working Caregivers ERG.

The workshop welcomed over thirty NECC staff members and their families, including children and loved ones, for a fun-filled opportunity to learn a new skill and spend time together outside of their daily routines. Participants of all ages and experience levels picked up a jump rope, learned new techniques, and encouraged one another throughout the afternoon.

The workshop was led by Social Media Coordinator Lauren Materia, a former competitive jump rope athlete who shared her passion for the sport and introduced participants to the joy of jumping rope. From learning the basics to practicing new skills, the activity provided an opportunity for participants to build confidence, try something new, and celebrate progress together.

“Jump rope is about so much more than the skill itself; it’s about confidence, connection, and finding joy in movement,” said Materia. “Seeing our NECC community come together to learn, laugh, and support one another was truly special.”

Throughout the workshop, the gym was filled with smiles, encouragement, and moments to celebrate. Children proudly showed off new skills, families cheered each other on, and colleagues connected through a shared experience of learning and fun. The energy and togetherness reflected the strong sense of community that makes NECC such a special place.

The Learn to Jump Rope Workshop is one example of how NECC’s Employee Resource Groups create meaningful opportunities for employees and families to connect beyond the workplace. Through events that encourage wellness, relationships, and shared experiences, the Wellness ERG and Working Caregivers ERG continue to strengthen the community that brings NECC to life.
