Staff Spotlight: Ariana Hafford
Ariana Hafford, a tutor in one of The New England Center for Children’s (NECC) Partner Program classrooms in Milton, NH, has worked with NECC for two years. She was nominated for Staff Spotlight by a colleague because she “has been a crucial part of the success of the Milton, NH Partner classroom team. She is flexible, knowledgeable, and always willing to do whatever is necessary to help support the students and staff.”
How long have you worked for NECC?
I am going into my third year working with NECC, my fourth year in a partner room, and fifth year in education.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of the job is seeing students reach new goals, especially if it’s something they have been working at for a while. I love working with students during inclusion and being a part of the school community.
Why did you choose a career in helping children with autism?
I chose this career because I have always loved kids, and being a teacher has been on my mind since I was young! I enjoy working with kids with autism and have seen the positive impact applied behavior analysis (ABA) can have on their lives.
Why NECC?
I love working for NECC because of the level of support I receive both in my daily job duties and in my professional development. I also appreciate the culture NECC creates and its investment in staff, students, and the community.
Have you taken advantage of any of the grad programs or teacher training at NECC?
Not yet, but I hope to take advantage of the grad programs in the future!
Who is someone you look up to?
I look up to my mom because she’s always looking to improve herself and is not afraid to admit her mistakes.
What is your life philosophy or motto you like to live by?
Often in life, we try to fix the bad or subtract the negative, but it’s much easier to add the positive. Do more of the things that make you happy.
