Team NECC Runner Ryan Bogar Conquers 30-Mile Ultra Marathon to Support NECC

On Saturday, May 30, Team NECC runner Ryan Bogar took on an extraordinary challenge in support of our school: a 30-mile ultra marathon around Joe Moakley Park in South Boston.

Starting at 7:00 a.m., Ryan set out with a simple but powerful goal—to bring together fellow runners and supporters while raising funds for NECC through his Falmouth Road Race fundraising campaign. Participants were invited to join Ryan for any portion of the run and contribute to his fundraising efforts, turning every mile into meaningful support for children and families we serve.

Despite facing cold temperatures, heavy rain, hail, and strong winds throughout the day, Ryan’s determination never wavered. More than 20 runners came out to participate, creating an inspiring sense of community and support despite the challenging weather conditions. Many additional supporters contributed online, helping Ryan make significant progress toward his fundraising goal.

Runners joined Ryan for distances of all lengths, and the event culminated in an incredible achievement: two fellow runners completed the entire 30-mile distance alongside him. Together, they demonstrated remarkable endurance, perseverance, and commitment to making a difference.

Thanks to the generosity of donors and supporters, Ryan has raised more than $650 for NECC and continues to work toward his goal of raising $1,500, with hopes of surpassing that milestone before race day.

Ryan’s ultra marathon is just one example of the dedication shown by Team NECC runners this summer. Fellow Team NECC runner Joey Consigli is preparing for an even bigger challenge on Saturday, July 25, when he plans to run 50 miles using a similar fundraising format. Like Ryan, Joey will invite runners to participate in portions of the event while encouraging donations to support NECC’s mission.

While we’re certainly hoping for better weather when Joey takes on his challenge later this summer, we couldn’t be more proud of Ryan’s incredible effort, determination, and commitment to supporting NECC.

Congratulations, Ryan, on an amazing accomplishment, and thank you to everyone who ran, donated, and helped make the day such a success. Your support is making a meaningful difference for the students, families, and community we serve.
