NECC Celebrates Simmons University Class of 2024 Graduates
Last week, NECC recognized the 27 staff who received their master’s degrees during the May 17 Simmons University Commencement with a celebration in Southborough.

Miranda Cox, a residential coordinator, has worked at NECC for five years. Cox, who began her journey at NECC as a case manager for the Higley Road team, was nominated by a colleague because “She is friendly, knowledgeable, and always on top of everything.”
Allie Phillips, a tutor in NECC’s Partner Program in Derry, NH, was nominated by a colleague because “she is always a ball of sunshine every time she walks into the classroom! Allie is one of the best staff members when it comes to problem-solving and helping students independently problem-solve themselves.”
On February 26, MRC-NECC held a ceremony honoring the 15 staff members who earned their Master of Science in Education (non-licensure program) from Simmons University, the first international cohort to complete the program through NECC.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Special Education operated by NECC (MRC-NECC) celebrated the graduation of the first-ever Simmons UAE cohort. Alya Al-Suwaidi was presented with the Gould Award for Global Excellence in Special Education Teaching, a testament to her dedication and impact in the field of special education.
Olivia Tomyl has worked as a level 2 teacher in NECC’s IIP since June 2022. She was nominated because she is “dedicated and has a great rapport with all of the students and staff. She goes above and beyond and always comes up with great ideas!”
MaKenzie Briere, MS, MSEd, BCBA, LABA, has worked for The New England Center for Children’s (NECC) Intensive Treatment Team (ITT) since 2015, serving in a number of roles, including her current position as program specialist for ITT Apartment 4.
Riley Moran has worked as a level 2 teacher at The New England Center for Children (NECC) for a year and a half. She was nominated by a colleague because she “goes above and beyond for her fellow staff and students.”
Megan King, MSEd, joined The New England Center for Children (NECC) in 2007 as a level 2 teacher and has spent the last six years working as a vocational specialist in NECC’s Vocational Services Department. She was nominated by a colleague because “to Megan, the students always come first!”
