Sensory-friendly Holiday Pops
A special donor provided grant funding to send 80 members of the NECC community to the Boston Pops. On Saturday, December 6, a mix of students, families, teachers, adults, and student alumni attended the Sensory-Friendly Holiday Pops at Symphony Hall in Boston, conducted by Keith Lockhart. The event featured a visit from Santa Claus and festive favorites and beloved classics such as “Jingle Bells,” “The 12 Days of Christmas,” and “Sleigh Ride.”
The sensory-friendly design of the performance created a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for individuals with sensory sensitivities. This atmosphere allowed our students and adults to relax, participate, and fully enjoy the music. BSO staff and volunteers handed out headphones and fidget toys to children as they entered to ensure a positive experience for all.
NECC’s balcony section was filled with joy and excitement as students, teachers, and families sang, danced, and celebrated together. The shared energy and togetherness brought a special NECC spirit to the hall, making the celebration a memorable start to the holiday season for our community!
