The New England Center for Children® (NECC) has been selected as a National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) School of Excellence for the 2022-23 school year, the highest honor NASET bestows upon special education schools.

According to the organization, the recognition as a NASET School of Excellence honors private special education schools that have met rigorous professional criteria and have demonstrated truly exceptional dedication, commitment, and achievement in the field.

“Our mission is to provide the best care and education to our students, and this recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, clinicians, and researchers,” explained Jessica Sassi, PhD, BCBA-D, LABA, executive director of NECC Southborough.  “We are proud to be named a NASET School of Excellence, joining the top special education schools in the country, and will continue to distinguish ourselves as a national and global leader in autism education and research.”

Since 2008, NASET has recognized qualified licensed private special education schools throughout the United States with the School of Excellence distinction. This is the third time NECC has received this prestigious honor.

NASET’s mission pledges “all possible support and assistance to professionals who teach children with special needs” and “seeks to promote standards of excellence and innovation in special education research, practice, and policy in order to foster exceptional teaching for exceptional children.”
