NECC earns spot in Massachusetts Top 100 Women-Led Businesses for 2025

The New England Center for Children (NECC) is proud to be named one of Massachusetts’ Top 100 Women-Led Businesses by The Women’s Edge in the 2025 “Women & Power” issue of the Boston Globe Magazine.

The Top 100 list recognizes women leaders and organizations that shape the economy of the Commonwealth — from building businesses and communities to protecting rights, driving innovation and serving thousands of employees. The 2025 cohort represents a combined revenue or operating budget of approximately $141 billion.

NECC was named, in large part, for being a powerhouse in central Massachusetts, leading in innovative problem-solving, science-backed research, and creating a culture where women are empowered and can thrive.

We support the success and advancement of women employees through free graduate-degree programs; mentorship of women; flexible work arrangements; mental health support; generous parental leave; on-site/subsidized childcare; and a formal DEI department including a “working caregivers” employee resource group.

Free, onsite graduate-degree opportunities (in partnership with Simmons University and Western New England University) are available to all direct care staff, who can earn a MSEd in Autism Specialization, MS in Applied Behavior Analysis, PhD in Behavior Analysis and more. This investment expands not only our capacity but also serves the broader field of special-education and behavior-analysis professionals.

For more than 50 years, we have innovated and built best-in-class expertise in autism education by using evidence-based applied behavior analysis (ABA) methods to accelerate communication, social skills, focus and reduce problem behaviors. Researchers at NECC publish regularly in peer-reviewed journals and we use only methods that show results. Our ACE® ABA software (developed in-house) is used by over 13,000 learners worldwide, helping children with profound autism gain important life skills.

Being named on this prestigious list affirms NECC’s role as a business and non-profit leader in Massachusetts — driving innovation, research, education and economic impact. It amplifies our reputation and opens further opportunities for partnerships, recruitment, and trust. We are grateful for the acknowledgement.
