In 2023, our community lost a beloved colleague, Amy Posocco.

For 19 years, Amy made an impact across NECC, both at our Southborough campus and overseas in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As an educator, lead teacher, consultant, clinical supervisor, colleague, friend, and mentor, she touched the lives of countless students, families, and professionals with her approachable, humorous, and supportive nature.

Amy also had a special connection to Simmons University, where she earned her master of science in education and education specialist degree in language and literacy. Outside of her work, Amy loved to run in our annual NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism and spend time outdoors, whether she was hiking, exploring, or simply enjoying time in nature.

To honor Amy’s legacy, we created the Amy Posocco Scholarship Award in 2025. The scholarship is awarded to a district staff member from one of NECC’s partner classrooms whose work reflects Amy’s passion for special education. Recipient(s) receive full tuition and fees for the master of science in severe special education: autism specialization program at Simmons University.

We are excited to announce two recipients of the Amy Posocco Scholarship for the Fall 2026: Anna McGrath and Kelly Rodriguez!

Anna McGrath

Anna McGrath is an ABA tutor in the NECC partner classroom in Franklin, MA. She graduated from Worcester State University in May 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a concentration in developmental processes. She is entering her sixth year working in the NECC Partner Program, where she supports students in kindergarten, first, and second grade.

“I feel incredibly honored to be one of the two recipients of the Amy Posocco Scholarship this year!” shared Anna. “Being awarded the Amy Posocco Scholarship is allowing me the opportunity to further my education and be more effective in supporting the students that I work with each day.”

Anna is proud to be part of her students’ learning, growth, and success in the classroom and is excited to begin working toward earning her master’s degree.

Kelly Rodriguez

Kelly Rodriguez is entering her fifth year working in the Partner Program. She graduated from Capella University in 2025 and is excited to begin this next journey into a master’s degree.

“Being able to pursue this degree without financial stress is truly a blessing,” said Kelly.

For Kelly, receiving the scholarship is also a meaningful way to honor Amy. “It is an incredible honor to receive this scholarship in honor of Amy Posocco,” shared Kelly. “I put my heart into my teaching and my students. Receiving this award allows Amy to be another piece in my life, pushing me to be approachable and respected in the field by all I cross paths with, just like she did.”

Amy made such a meaningful impact on the people around her, and it’s special to see that spirit continue through the people doing this work today. We’re so proud to support Anna and Kelly as they continue their education and the important work they do with students, helping them lead happy, independent lives.
