Taylor Bolitho, a level 1 teacher and core shift manager (CSM) for The New England Center for Children’s (NECC) Francine Road residence, has worked for NECC for five years. She was nominated by a colleague because she “always has the most positive attitude” and is “always advocating for staff and students! She is always encouraging independence and just wants our team to be the best it can be. She is a great CSM and an even better teacher!”
How long have you worked for NECC?
I have worked at NECC for five years. During that time, I’ve been a behavior health technician, case manager, and now a CSM.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My students!
Why did you choose a career in helping children with autism?
I fell in love with working with students with autism when I was in high school when I worked at a camp for individuals with severe autism.
Why NECC?
NECC has introduced me both to a career working with students in a residential setting and to life-long friends and amazing students. I couldn’t be more thankful.
Have you taken advantage of any of the grad programs or teacher training at NECC?
I am in school to obtain my master’s degree in occupational therapy [with a non-NECC affiliated program]. However, I have done countless trainings though NECC. These trainings have been extremely helpful in getting different insights that I can incorporate and use to become the best teacher I can.
What is something about you that your colleagues might be surprised to learn?
I know every word to the majority of the movies on Disney+. I am a huge fan of Disney princesses.
What is your life philosophy or motto you like to live by?
You can manifest anything, but you also have to put in the work. And: “Unless someone like you cares a whole lot, it’s never going to get better. It’s not.” – The Lorax
