Kelsey Mellekas, MSEd, BCBA, LABA, has worked for The New England Center for Children for ten years. She was nominated for Staff Spotlight because “she is an amazing supervisor who is always there to support each member of the team."
Heather Arel, a lead tutor in one of The New England Center for Children’s (NECC) Partner Program classrooms in Groton, MA, has worked for NECC for nearly two years. She was nominated by a colleague because she “always goes above and beyond to support students and other staff,” and when she moved to Groton,
Christina Rayball has worked in The New England Center for Children’s (NECC) Partner Program since 2021 and currently serves as an interim lead teacher for a partner classroom in Groton, MA. She was nominated because she “has helped the students make incredible gains in her time in Groton.”
Each year, the NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism brings together hundreds of staff, students, families, and community members for a day of support for autism education. On May 11, more than 65 people will honor their late colleague, Amy Posocco, by participating as the Miles for Mimi NECC 5K team.
Jackie Mombourquette, a tutor in NECC’s Partner Program, has worked at NECC for almost two years. She was nominated by a colleague because she “is always the first person in and the last one out and is always coming up with creative and fun lessons for our students.”
This fall, Sarah Brylle, MS, BCBA, LABA, a senior lead teacher in NECC’s Partner Program, was named the winner of the 2023 Maria Felix Lonergan Memorial Award in recognition of her commitment to NECC and her students.
Samantha Young, MS, has worked in The New England Center for Children’s (NECC) Partner Program for three years. She was nominated by her colleagues because “she is one of the hardest working individuals I have ever met."
Emily Cooper began her career at The New England Center for Children as a teacher in the residential program before moving to the Partner Program as a lead teacher in Burlington, MA. She was nominated by a colleague because of the example she sets for others.
Over the last two years, the pandemic has exacerbated a human services crisis and staffing shortage that has led to individuals with special needs being left without the necessary support. During the 2020-2021 academic year, NECC expanded its Consulting and Public School Services division to help.
