Courtney Tierney, MSEd, an education coordinator for NECC’s Intensive Instruction Program (IIP), has worked at NECC for nine years. She was nominated by a colleague because she “goes above and beyond for all of her students. Her kindness and dedication show in everything that she does.”
Emma Parsons was nominated for Staff Spotlight because “even on the hardest days, Emma is always positive and happy, and always willing to help a coworker. She’s someone we all look up to!”
Though Jayne Colantonio, MSEd, BCBA, found her way to The New England Center for Children (NECC) somewhat by accident, she has stayed for nearly a decade. Colantonio, a senior education coordinator in NECC’s Intensive Instruction Program (IIP), was nominated because “she has been an amazing boss and a great mentor.”
Across two weeks, NECC parent Mike McKenna drove from Los Angeles to Jupiter Beach, FL, meeting with autism advocates, supporters, and NECC staff alumni along the way. He also raised more than $86,000. McKenna’s drive uncovered heartwarming stories and hard truths about autism such as limited resources, awareness, and staffing.
