The New England Center for Children® (NECC) has been selected as a National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) School of Excellence for the 2024-25 school year, the highest honor NASET bestows upon special education schools.

Since 2008, NASET has acknowledged accomplished private special education schools across the United States with this honor. Recipients of this award meet strict professional criteria and embody remarkable dedication and achievement in their field.  

“At NECC, we strive to provide the highest-level of education, care, and support for our students,” said Jessica Sassi, PhD, BCBA-D, LABA, executive director of NECC Southborough. “Receiving this honor is a testament to the commitment and dedication of the entire NECC community, including the teaching staff who work directly with our students, to accomplish our mission of enriching the lives of individuals with autism.”

NASET is a national membership organization “dedicated to rendering all possible support and assistance to those preparing for or teaching in the field of special education.”  It was founded to promote the profession of special education and “develops and promotes professional excellence through the support of teachers who provide services to children with special needs” and works to ensure “that all children and adolescents with special needs receive the best education possible.” 

This is the fourth time NECC has been named a NASET School of Excellence.
