Emily Stevens has worked as a level 2 teacher for The New England Center for Children (NECC) for nearly four years, and currently works in the Intensive Instruction Program (IIP). She was nominated by a colleague because she “is a positive, energetic, and reliable team member in IIP Cohort C. We appreciate Emily’s communication skills and her tireless dedication to her work as a case manager and advocate for all of the students who she works with. Emily brings her positive energy to work every day and she always has a smile to share with families, coworkers, and students. Emily is a valued member of the IIP, and we are grateful for her contributions to the team!”

How long have you worked for NECC?

I have been a Level 2 teacher at NECC for almost four years. I have previously worked as a teacher within the ITT and residential programs.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is building a unique rapport with each of my students.

Why NECC?

I came to NECC to continue my education in applied behavior analysis and gain additional clinical and research experience. I am currently a graduate student in the Western New England University program.

What is something about you that your colleagues might be surprised to learn?

I love making espresso and lattes! However, I have not quite mastered latte art.

What is your life philosophy or a motto you like to live by?

I like to live by the law of parsimony. That is, the simplest explanation is often correct.
