Core Skills Assessment

The Core Skills Assessment measures independence in a wide range of fundamental skills within the following areas:  

DISCRIMINATION

The discrimination area contains basic attending, discrimination, and matching skills.

COMMUNICATION

A variety of communication skills are addressed, including requesting, naming, and simple direction-following.

SOCIAL SKILLS

The social skills area contains foundational skills such as imitation and joint attention.

SELF-HELP

Basic self-care skills are addressed in the self-help area.

HEALTH & SAFETY

The health and safety area includes fundamental skills for simple medical care, personal identification, and privacy.

RECREATION & PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Items related to following schedules and exercise are part of the recreation and physical education area.

COMMUNITY

The community area contains skills that are essential for navigating safely in the community.
