MA – James P. McGovern, U.S.
Representative for Massachusetts’
3rd Congressional District, will
visit and tour The New England Center
for Children in Southborough, MA
on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 11:00
a.m. Before his election to Congress,
McGovern spent fourteen years working
as a senior aide for the late U.S.
Representative John Joseph Moakley
(D-South Boston), former dean of
the Massachusetts delegation and
Chairman of the House Rules Committee.
The New England Center for Children
(NECC) is a private, nonprofit school
serving children diagnosed with
autism spectrum disorder, pervasive
developmental disorder (PDD), and
Asperger’s Syndrome. Founded
in 1975, NECC provides state-of-the-art
education and individualized treatment
in its preschool, day school and
residential programs. NECC is an
integral part of the local community,
with 17 residential homes located
in Westborough, Marlborough, Ashland,
Framingham, Hopkinton and Shrewsbury.
Located 20 miles west of Boston
in Southborough, Massachusetts,
NECC serves more than 200 students
from 6 states and 2 foreign countries.
The faculty of over 600 individuals
from the Metrowest and Worcester
county area includes master's and
doctoral- level clinicians and teachers
with expertise in the field of autism,
Applied Behavior Analysis, speech
pathology, and special education.

scientific approach based on the
principles of Applied Behavior Analysis,

to further the understanding, treatment
and early intervention of autism
