The New England Center for Children Receives Grant From John W. Alden Trust

The John W. Alden Trust announced that it will award The New England Center for Children a $20,000.00 grant for the Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia (ACE) Project. The Autism Curriculum Encyclopedia (ACE) is a computerized database that was created at NECC specifically to teach children with autism. Currently, the ACE is being used by all teachers at NECC, while pilot projects enabling Partner Classroom accessibility in local public schools are being implemented. The long-term goal of this project is to share the ACE with others in the field, across the world. Since 2005, NECC has received a total of $101,475.00 to support the ACE. Additional funds have also come from Autism Speaks, Bank of America, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and Cisco Systems, Inc. .

A U.S. Department of Education National Award Winner, The New England Center for Children (NECC) is a residential and day school serving individuals diagnosed with autism and related disabilities. NECC is a non-profit, publicly funded school serving 237 students who come to us from throughout the United States and several foreign countries. Since its founding in 1975, The New England Center for Children has emerged as an international leader on three closely-related fronts: the effective education of children with autism, applied educational research, and teacher training.
