The New England Center for Children Receives Grant From Procter & Gamble
SOUTHBOROUGH, MA - The Procter and Gamble Company has awarded The New England
Center for Children (NECC) in Southborough, Massachusetts a grant to help fund the Autism Curriculum
Encyclopedia (ACE™). The ACE™ is a curriculum database tool that has been created at
NECC specifically for educating children with autism. The ACE™ will provide a central location
for all teaching protocols used at NECC. This will allow teachers and administrators easy access to
standardized programs, which can be individualized to meet the specific needs of their students. The
ultimate goal of this project is to post the ACE™ on the Internet to share with educators around
the world.
A U.S. Department of Education national award winner, The New England Center for
Children is a residential and day school serving individuals diagnosed with autism and related
disabilities. NECC is a non-profit, publicly funded school serving more than 300 students who come
to us from throughout the United States and several foreign countries. Since its founding by Vincent
Strully, Jr. in 1975, NECC has maintained a steadfast dedication to helping individuals reach their
potential and live productively; to minimizing dependence and maximizing independence; and to eliminating
isolation and increasing social, educational and employment opportunities through integration into all
aspects of community life.
This grant has been made available from P&G's Live, Learn, and Thrive™
fund, which primarily assists the development of children in need from birth to age 13. This money
will go a long way toward our goal of providing educators around the world with a technological tool
that has been created specifically to teach children with autism.
