The New
England Center for Children’s
30th Anniversary Gala
On Friday, November 18, 2005, The
New England Center for Children
(NECC) will host its 30th Anniversary
Gala at the Boston Convention &
Exhibition Center in Boston, MA.
The Gala will help raise substantial
resources for the Annual Fund, which
enables NECC to offer a full range
of educational, residential and
treatment programs designed to help
their students reach their full
potential.
Citizens Bank is the lead sponsor
of the event, and Bob Smyth, Chairman
and President of Citizens Bank of
Massachusetts, will serve as the
Event Chair.
At our 25th Anniversary celebration
in 2000, The New England Center
for Children recognized Senator
Edward M. Kennedy as an individual
who shares a commitment to NECC’s
vision of accomplishment, growth
and hope for children with autism
and developmental disabilities.
This year, former Governor of Massachusetts
and Distinguished Professor at Northeastern
University, Governor Michael S.
Dukakis will be presented with the
Children of Promise Award.
The event will be hosted by WBZ-TV’s
Dan Rea. The night will feature
a silent auction, followed by dinner
and dancing.
The mission of The New England
Center for Children is to provide
state-of-the-art education and individualized
treatment--with care and respect--for
children with autism and other disabilities.
For 30 years NECC has maintained
a steadfast dedication to helping
individuals reach their potential
and live productively.
In 2000, The New England Center
for Children received the National
Award for Model Professional Development
from the United States Department
of Education. NECC is the only private
school ever to receive this award.
NECC is also the 2005 recipient
of the Award for Enduring Programmatic
Contributions to Behavior Analysis
from the Society for the Advancement
of Behavior Analysis (SABA). This
award is given to an organization
that contributes to the ongoing
enduring development of behavior
analysis, and was presented at the
2005 Applied Behavior Analysis Convention
in May 2005.
The New England Center for Children
is located in Southborough, Massachusetts,
20 miles west of Boston. NECC comprises
a central school facility and 17
community-based group homes. NECC
serves approximately 240 students
with autism and related disorders
from across the United States and
many foreign countries. NECC employs
close to 700 people and serves as
a graduate research and training
center formally affiliated with
Simmons College and Northeastern
University, among others. NECC’s
applied research is published frequently
in scientific journals.
