NECC Student Council

The NECC Student Council represents all students in NECC programs at their regular meetings. Students learn leadership skills and develop real connections with each other while they enjoy social interaction with students throughout the school.

With help from their staff advisor, the Council holds an election each year. Students make speeches and then votes are cast for members and officers. Careful accommodations are made to insure as much participation as possible.

The council sponsors activities for our school such as annual fall and spring dances. They collect suggestions about ways to improve services including ideas for community access and ways to make residence living easier. The Executive Director formally responds to all Student Council suggestions and implements as many as possible. To support its activities the Council holds fundraisers like car washes and bake sales.

Participation in the Student Council teaches students positive ways to have an impact on their world, and our school becomes more responsive to needs by following suggestions from the Student Council.
