Minutes from March 12, 2007
Present:

Meeting Agenda:
Prior to the business meeting, Kim Keogh gave an informative presentation on
"Planning Adult Services," including a review of the relevant clinical issues
for young adults in transition, such as target skills to increase for success
in the community. Kim encouraged parents to get involved with their local
DMR agency.
The meeting convened at 8:10.
The minutes of the February meeting were approved.
Treasurer's Report (Annette Lazili):
A balance of $7022.57 of the PO's $12K budget remains. The fiscal year ends 6/30.
Activities Committee (Marcia Grenier):
Family Day was a success, despite the Moonwalk threatening to deflate.
Staff Appreciation Committee (Angela Masiello):
Plans for the 5/9/07 spaghetti dinner for staff are moving forward. Volunteers are
needed from 2:00-3:00 pm for set up, from 3:00-6:00 pm for serving, and from 6:00-7:00pm
for clean up.
Fundraising Committee (Angela Masiello):
Planning for the 2007 Night of Music will begin in April.
Membership Committee:

Legislative Committee (Marcia Grenier):
Marcia brought several March meetings to the PO's attention: a legislative reception sponsored
by ARC 3/21 at the state house, a legislative breakfast for the Central West DMR at Clarke
University on 3/23, and a talk by Teresa Varnet of Fletcher Tilton and Whipple at the Center
for Hope in Southbridge on 3/31. Atty. Varnet is a strong advocate for disability rights and
an expert on disability law and adult planning. Autism Awareness Day is coming up on April 30,
with events at the State House. See arcmass.org for details. The ARCMASS website also presents
their bils platform.
Misc. (Rich Martin):
At the April 9 meeting, Sarah Allen from Clarke Hunt and Embry will present on Special Needs
Trusts.
