Committee
Updates
Activities Committee:
Colleen reported on the roller skating
excursion planned for Saturday, April
29 from 10-12 pm at Roller Kingdom
in Hudson. The proposed cost is $10
per family, which does not included
$3 per pair of skates or snacks. The
question arose as to whether the PO
should pay for any of this event if
proceeds do not cover costs. A motion
was put forward to request an annual
budget for the Activities Committee
of 1K. Jonathan will call Mike Downey
on this.
Fundraising
Committee: Angela
reported that Night of Music planning
is underway. The Fundraising Committee
will meet in April. Anyone interested
in attending can email Angela at wmasiello@charter.net.
Legislative
Committee: Rich
reported that the Governor’s
MA state budget proposal calls for
a tuition rate freeze. NECC will likely
be sending a letter to parents about
this.
Membership
Committee: Jonathan
reported that phone recruiting continues.
Staff
Appreciation Committee: Ann
reported that the dinner event planned
for Wednesday May 3rd in the cafeteria
will be for both Day and Residential
staff, staggering the seating times
to accommodate (3:00 for Day staff,
4:00 for Residential). Volunteers
are needed from 2:00 on. Zitis will
cater the event, and the PO will be
responsible for drinks and paper goods
only.
Announcements
Rich reported that
this past Saturday and Sunday groups
of parents from CT and NY respectively
came for informational meetings. This
Friday parents will volunteer at the
Day School from 9-12 to help with
time-intensive projects such as laminating
tokens. Next Wednesday is the Science
Fair at 6:00 and the NECC 30th birthday
party at 7:00. On April 8th Rich Martin
will host a father’s discussion
group, time TBA but likely to be in
the morning. Bill Ahearn will attend
the PO next month to talk about research
at NECC. Bring your questions on this
topic as well as on autism research
in general. A suggestion was made
to have a nutritionist speak to the
PO.
Our next meeting is
on April 10th.
