Minutes from January 8, 2007

Present:
Tracey Sweeney, Tere Dunne, Annette Lazili, Julie Kelley, Jim Kelley, RoseMarie Donovan, Dan Donovan, Anne Kelley, Joe Kelley, Sue Sleight, Lori Shaver, Terri O'Leary, Thomas O'Leary, Marcia Grenier, Alain Grenier, John Neville, Sara Neville, Angela Masiello, Joyce Rosenfeld, Jill DeBender, Cindy Wheaton, Ann Edwards, Peg Thompson, Bob Ruzzo, Susan Ruzzo, Carolyn Gombosi, Rich Martin, Jeannette Gould

Meeting convened at 6:30 pm:
From 6:30 until 7:15 members socialized with new parents.
Beginning at 7:15, Laura Hutt, Director of Speech and Language, presented about the SPL services provided at NECC.
There was a motion to accept the November and December 2006 minutes.
The DOE Family Satisfaction questionnaire was passed out to attendees to complete.

Treasurer's Report:
We have $8,665 of our $12K budget remaining. There will be upcoming charges for team meeting catering, and buffet catering. The fiscal year ends 6/30.

Activities Committee:
Jill DeBender distributed information regarding an event she is hosting at Noodle Noggin' 'N Bean, a parent-child educational play center. If interested in attending, please contact Jill.

Staff Appreciation Committee:
Ann Edwards discussed reevaluating the current Staff Appreciation Budget. She is interested in developing a formal proposal of events/activities and their costs to present to NECC, in an attempt to receive more money.

Fundraising Committee:
Angela Masiello reported that the Night of Music raised $111,000 this year. Next year the event will not be held at Mechanics Hall. It will possibly take place in Boston. Mechanics Hall has penciled NECC in for the following three years.

Membership Committee:
Tracey Sweeney welcomed the new families to the school and the buffet.

Legislative Committee:
Marcia Grenier reported that Deval Patrick has restored budget cuts, which will aid in autism research and care for special needs individuals. Also, there is a salary bill in the works which would help to compensate direct care workers. She also reported on S615, which states that health care providers must cover ASD.

Other items:
All attendees introduced themselves, and took time to share about their children and their achievements since being at NECC

Next meeting:
February 5, 2007. Annual Dinner Meeting with NECC Board of Directors, Human Rights Committee and Parents Organization
