David & Barrie King
David G. King, established Bay Colony. Development Corp., one of NECC major donors, in 1980. Prior to coming to Bay Colony as its Director of Finance in 1996, his wife, Barrie, had been a corporate lender for many years, at Bank of Boston and more recently with Fleet Bank. Bay Colony Development Corp. is a Certified Development Company whose purpose is to stimulate economic development through the creation and preservation of jobs by providing healthy companies with fixed asset financing at affordable rates and reasonable terms.
Board of Directors Chairman, John Marston, first introduced David and Barrie to NECC. After visiting NECC, they were impressed with the effectiveness of the program. “The tour left us feeling both overwhelmed and impressed. The educational benefit for all of us lucky enough to have attended the tour was extremely important”, David and Barrie said. Since then, they have made generous donations to NECC through many of our events such as golf tournaments, Pops events, and the 25th Anniversary Gala.
Outside of their leadership positions at Bay Colony Development Corp., David serves as a director on the Board of the National Association of Development Companies, as well as for DCC Growth Fund, and Fastener Distribution and Marketing Co., Inc. Barrie is a member of the Board of Overseers for the Concord Carlisle Community Chest and has participated in a variety of community organizations and events.
In their spare time David enjoys working on their farm in Vermont, as well as traveling and reading. Barrie delights in gardening, traveling, skiing, reading and family. Their family includes two children, a son Terry and a daughter Deb. Terry graduated from Hobart College in 1997 and is now employed at Mellon Bank in Massachusetts . Deb graduated from William Smith College in 1993 and Cornell University in 1999 where she received her MBA in Brand Management. Deb is currently employed as a Product Manager at E & J Gallo Wines in California.
