Capital Campaign

Swimming into a Brighter Future

Thank you to all of you who have contributed to our Capital Campaign for an Aquatic Center.  We are excited to report that we have exceeded our original Campaign goals and have raised $5.5 million for the Aquatic Center.

On June 20, 2008 NECC formally dedicated the “Michael S. Dukakis Aquatic Center.” The pool itself is now called “Andrew’s Place” in honor of Andrew Gombosi, whose late father, Peter, dreamed of helping us build this pool.

Thanks to you, NECC students are using the pool on a regular basis as it provides an environment where children with autism can swim, improving muscle tone and flexibility, as well as overall physical fitness. By learning to swim, children also learn valuable safety practices and skills such as dressing, socializing, and cooperative play. No other activity can provide all of these benefits while building the confidence that will help our students succeed in the world.

We are grateful to former Governor Michael S. Dukakis and Thomas Hollister for their leadership as co-chairmen of the Campaign.

Once again, thank you for helping this dream become reality and helping us to complete our first-ever Capital Campaign.

Please, click here to make a donation to our Annual Fund, which will help keep our pool equipped with safety equipment and supplies during the coming year.   To see pictures of the pool and the dedication ceremony click here.
