About the Area

Graduate Assistantships are available in Special Education or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Graduate Assistants participate in a 3-year degree program (on-site) while gaining valuable work experience with children, adolescents and young adults with Autism, PDD and Behavior Disorders.

In addition to participating in the part-time Graduate program of choice, the graduate assistant fulfills full-time teaching responsibilities in the level 1 or level 2 teacher role.

Master of Science in Severe Special Needs, Simmons College:

In collaboration with Simmons College, NECC offers a Master of Science degree in Special Education. This program prepares teachers to work with learners with intensive special needs. Graduates of this program teach in inclusive general education classrooms, self-contained special education classrooms or private day and residential special education schools. Graduates are prepared to teach age-appropriate skills that range from communication, self-help and social skills to academic and vocational skills.

Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis, Northeastern University:

In collaboration with Northeastern University, NECC offers a Master of Science Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (MABA). This program offers students comprehensive in-service training in the application of learning theory to the education and treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities. Students participate in a variety of educational experiences including seminars, intervention projects and practicum assignments under the supervision of a faculty advisor. This three-year, full-time program is taught on-site at NECC and seeks to train students to become leaders in the field of Behavior Analysis.

Program Requirements:

Successful candidates will possess strong academic and professional references. An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred. Interested applicants should forward their resume (or apply online) with a letter identifying their interest in the Graduate Assistant Program. Following an on-site interview at NECC, applicants will apply directly to the College or University of choice for admittance to this program.
