2008 5K Walk/Run for Autism

NECC Holds the 2nd Annual Walk/Run for Autism

The New England Center for Children’s 2nd Annual 5K Walk/Run for Autism sponsored by SBLI held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 was a huge success! Nearly 900 people were registered to walk or run to raise awareness of autism and raised more than $150,000 for our Annual Fund. Many people enjoyed this fun event, including students, staff, parents and other friends of NECC.

After the race, everyone enjoyed a cookout and music by the band Tenet. NECC’s Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Vincent Strully, Jr. thanked the participants and announced top fundraisers. As of May 10, the top individual fundraiser was Andrew Budson with a fundraising total exceeding $7,000. The top fundraising team was Team Robert (The Harrington Family), raising more than $9,000!

Top runners were then awarded. Listed below are the top runner results:

1st Place Overall Female – Stephanie Crawford
1st Place Overall Male – Paul Noone
1st Place Female Age Group 19-30 – Candice Colon
1st Place Male Age Group 19-30 – Matt Depari
1st Place Female Age Group 31-50 – Elizabeth Whitnay
1st Place Male Age Group 31-50 – John Megan
1st Place Female Age Group Over 50 – Kathy Foster
1st Place Male Age Group Over 50 – Thomas Offenbacher

Thank you to all who participated and volunteered to make this event a success. Special thanks to NECC’s Parents Organization for their efforts to recruit parents and for their presence at the Family Tent on race day.
