On Thursday, June 16, 2007, The New England Center for Children (NECC®) held its second annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day. The day was a tremendous success thanks to the help and support of all staff. About 70 grandparents and friends of NECC students and staff received information about Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Language Services, Research, the ACE, APE services, and Academic Services. Grandparents and friends also toured the school and spent time observing students’ classrooms.
In addition to words from our Executive Director, Vinnie Strully, Dr. Brian Iwata, Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Florida, spoke about research being done at NECC. Also, Don Putnam, the Project Superintendent from Shawmut Design & Construction, the company building our pool, spoke about the progress being made on the Therapeutic Aquatic Center.
At the end of the presentations, grandparents, along with founders, staff and students signed the last of the steel beams being used in the construction of the pool before they were hoisted and welded in place.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event a great success!
