2006 Parents' Organization Sponsors Holiday Staff Appreciation

On December 13 volunteers from NECC's Parents' Organization gathered at the school to distribute baskets of holiday season chocolates. Baskets were delivered throughout the school and at residences with notes attached to recognize the hard work of all staff including teachers, special services and support staff, and administrators. In what is becoming a holiday tradition the Parents' Organization also helped fund a special purchase of Chinese food distributed to staff working in the residential program on the Christmas holiday shift. These gestures are part of a number of staff appreciation events the Parents' Organization sponsors during the year culminating in a catered dinner during NECC's Annual Staff Appreciation Week in May.

NECC's Parents' Organization is open to parents of students in all NECC programs. Meetings typically occur on the first or second Monday of each month. Informational presentations occur prior to regular business meetings. Parents actively support fundraising efforts through its sponsorship of an Annual Night of Music, welcome new families at an annual 'new family buffet', sponsor events like Annual Family Day, and advise NECC about policies and procedures. The February meeting is a combined meeting in which parents, NECC Board of Directors, and the NECC Human Rights committees meet to discuss each group's activities. Staff appreciation events are sponsored throughout the year for our staff.
