On Friday, June 20, 2008, The New England Center for Children (NECC®) held its 3rd Annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day. More than 100 family and friends of NECC students and staff attended this special event to get an "inside view" of a day in the life of NECC students.
Guests received information on our students' educational services including how NECC's students are swimming into a brighter future with the opening of the new Michael S. Dukakis Aquatic Center, dedicated earlier that morning. The day also incorporated a tour of the school, time observing students' classrooms, and students presenting their Science Fair projects.
Robert Fanning, Grandfather of a NECC student, shared his experience as a grandfather of a child with Autism and how NECC
has changed their lives for the better. He spoke about the way his family has become a part of the NECC
community by participating in the annual 5k Walk/Run for Autism and celebrating at the annual dinner auction "A Night of Music."
